COMMITTEE

"Such a great team, always working hard towards their SADD goals"

This year, we have had a committee of 23 students, where we have consistently worked well together as a group and always made sure everyone got involved and had a say in everything.

This year the committee have undertaken a tremendous amount of activities that have been run in and out of school.

They are a great and hard working team that's always ready for more.

Jerome Mclean-Burton

Jerome was appointed the 2017 SADD leader for Tararua college. He has worked very hard to make sure the SADD committee was running smoothly and has been behind all of the activities held a Tararua College. He was then chosen to be a National Leader alongside 20 other students from all over New Zealand in May and has been attending many National Leader conferences throughout the school holidays.

"I am so thankful to have been chosen as the schools SADD leader and also a National leader to represent SADD and Tararua College Nationally. This year has been full of fun and full of experiences where I had the chance to meet many great minded young leaders to plan and discuss new Ideas for SADD in the future"

In the new year, your SADD leader will hold a short presentation during assembly and will talk about forming a new committee. They will have a sign up area for interested students and then let them know about any further information.

Rachel Ireland has been the teacher in charge of SADD for a few years now. She has been a huge supporter for the SADDs committee, involvement and SADD leader. She is determined to help those strive in an area they are mostly passionate about.

Rachel has continued to support everyone with everything.

"The SADD programme is hugely influential in promoting road safety messages

not just to young drivers and their passengers but also to the wider

community.

I see my role as one of supporting the students with their activities and at the

same time providing opportunities for the students to assist me with the

community road safety programmes Horizons Regional Council undertakes"
